Abraham tent was established as initiative from the pastor Jad shihadeh the priest of the Lutheran church in Beit jala for helping children in their academic situation and afford dinner for them. The beginning was in Al-dhashah camping at the 1st of jan.2009 then the tent moved to Beit Omar for a year.
The project started in Al-Ubiedyeh town at the 1st of jan.2011. Emad who’s the manager of the tent made arrangement with the municipality of the town. Which spent big efforts in order to provide a suitable situation for teaching children. The municipality although provides the furniture such as tables, chairs, lights, bathrooms and the kitchen.
Suleiman Al-Abd Allah who’s the head of the municipality visited the location regularly, he always make sure that the place is comfortable and healthy for children. In addition he provide all things that the tent needs.
The tent joined 120 students who are weak in English and Arabic subjects. The teachers who are specialist in English and Arabic are concerned to develop the ability of the students in order to improve their marks in the school. We also offer a course in English subject for mothers of the children in order to be able to teach their children. The tent gave help to some handicap, they learn and play with children.
Since the name of the tent returned back to the name of Abraham the father of prophets who is concerned to provide food for poor people the tent works hard to secure the dinner for children every day.
The priest Jadallah who’s the pastor of the Lutheran church and the master of the idea makes every effort in order to success this project he visited the tent with groups of foreigners they play with the children, shared them their talents and eat with them.
Drawing a smile on the face of children needs big efforts the tent made many entreating activities such as playing, singing, acting, and going to picnics.
The children went to several places around the town for picnics they visited Hadiqat Al-Bat in Beit Jala then they went to Aush Ghrab in beit sahour they play football and tennis.
They went to Al-khadir play ground dance, sing and play they spent a joyful time.
At the 1st of July the tent made a summer camping the camp includes many activities they went to Al-Haram Al-Ebrahimi in Hebron.
We hope this project will continue for many years in order to develop the economic conditions since many young people are unemployed we have many educated and intelligent youth but they have no chance for a job because of the bad economic conditions.
This project gives the children and the people of the town a hope for better future in peace and wealth.
